Choosing Your Grooming Products
For best results, we recommend using a shampoo and a conditioner to cleanse and nourish the fur as well as soften and detangle.
As far as dog shampoos go, Pawdaw of London have four main options depending on your pups needs.
For Puppies Or Those With Particularly Sensitive Skin: We recommend the Natural Sensitive Shampoo for dogs and puppies which is mild and unscented.
If Your Dog Is Prone To Rolling Or Constantly Battling Ticks And Fleas: you may want to try the Natural Shampoo Bar which boasts natural insect repelling ingredients and is scented with essential oils that can even tackle fox poo - thanks neem!
For Extra Soft & Healthy Coats: check out the Natural 2-in-1 Conditioning Shampoo for Dogs that leaves fur silky smooth and minty fresh.
Long Haired Breeds Or Prone To Matting: The Natural Conditioner & Detangler is an excellent multi-tasker as it can be used on both wet and dry fur depending on whether you need a deep condition or help tackling tough tangles.
Extra Accessories For Easy Pampering
To Leave Your Dog Smelling Extra Fine After Their Bath: add a spritz of Natural Refreshing Cologne to the pamper routine and spray their bed for longer lasting freshness.
For A Spa Finish: we have the Natural Skin, Paw and Nose Balm for dry patches and sore bits.
If you want to give your pup the true Pawdaw of London pamper experience, it’s not just about choosing the right grooming products...
You’ll have to go one step further and give them an ultra-plush microfibre landing pad for their post-bath relaxation time. If you ask us, you can’t just use any old towel for your precious pup. Our XL Super Absorbent Dog Towels are big enough to wrap them up in (regardless of breed) and fast drying so you can use them several times in between washes.
Then to further elevate the experience, the Luxury Dog Drying Bags provide a super snuggle sack space for pups to chill out and dry in, revealing fabulous fluffy coats on exit.
Before The Bath
To prepare your dog for their pamper treatment, our first suggestion is to give them a nice brush, to loosen any debris and identify the worst knots and tangles.
Then, set up the post-bath drying area for maximum relaxation. We recommend opening out a Luxury Dog Drying Bag on their bed, so they can be snuggled up while they dry.
Take your microfibre dog towel to the bath with you, ready to soak up the worst drips after the bath.
Step 2: Pampering
In the bath
Before you start the bath, make sure you have all your grooming products to hand and ready to use. Dogs tend to wriggle in the bath and may attempt to jump out so it’s best to minimise the amount of hands-off time. We recommend using a Licky Mats to help distract them and keep them settled, they can be stuck to most surfaces, including bathroom tiles, paste on some dog friendly peanut butter to keep them occupied.
The Pawdaw of London liquid shampoos come with handy flip disc top caps so there are no fiddly twist on lids to contend with and application is simple and easy.
Start by making sure you have adjusted the temperature of the water so that it’s not uncomfortably cold or too hot for your pups skin. Use the inside of your wrist to test the temperature.
Begin by rinsing your dogs fur, avoiding eyes and inside the ears until their coat is wet. Gently apply the shampoo, massaging in to cleanse the skin as well as the coat.
Once lathered up and rubbed in all over, thoroughly rinse out the shampoo until the water runs clean.
Now it’s time for that deep condition. Unlock the Conditioner & Detangler using the handy latch, and spray away. Massage through the coat, rubbing through the worse effected areas to work into the matting. You can leave it in or rinse it out, depending on your preference or pups needs.
Drying
Hold your pup secure so that they can’t slip or jump out of the bath while you wrap them up in their luxury towel, gently squeezing the moisture out of their legs, tail and ears.
Once feet are dried, you can either carry your pup or lead them to their prepared drying bag in their bed. Fasten the Velcro around their neck, tight enough that they can’t jump out, but not too tight that they feel uncomfortable and restricted. Zip them in and reward with a treat.
You can leave them drying and relaxing for anywhere between 15 and 45 minutes but most dogs are usually dry in under 30.
Finishing touches
Now that your pup has had some deep relaxation in their drying bag, you can unzip to reveal glorious shiny and fluffy fur that smells oh so divine.
If you're looking to go the extra mile now’s the time to apply a few spritzes of Natural Refreshing Cologne for dogs, a 2-in-1 nourishing and deodorising spray. It's also perfect for freshening up beds, blankets & towels in between washes.
Finally, we can moisturise the paws and nose with the Natural Skin, Nose & Paw Balm, which can also be applied to any dry or sore patches of skin such.
Wow! What a result!
